Anselm Perera is a senior banker with 38+ years of international banking experience in the Middle East & Sri Lanka. He started his banking career in 1971 with National & Grindlay’s Bank Ltd, Sri Lanka. In 1975 he joined HSBC Oman (British Bank of the Middle East – BBME) He has had a unique career path serving as temporary CEO of HSBC Oman and covering many areas of HSBC Oman. These include Chief Operating Officer, GM Corporate Banking, GM Retail Banking & Wealth Management and GM Human Resources as well as Deputy CEO (DCEO) of HSBC Oman from 2001 - 2008.
Anselm is proud of his history with HSBC; he was a Strategic member of HBSC Oman Management Team, responsible for transforming HSBC from manual systems to the best automated bank in the Sultanate. He is a visionary leader with a proven track record for project management and organizational skills. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Financial Studies (Chartered Institute of Bankers), UK. At his retirement he was one of the three bankers to hold this qualification in Oman and the only Sri Lankan. He is also an Associate of the Institute of Financial Studies (Chartered Institute of Bankers), UK.
Through his meticulous work ethic he maintains excellent relationships with Government entities, regulators, corporates and eminent professionals in the Sultanate.
